Mid City Swimming Pool was a large private pool, located on Broadway in Menands, just north of Albany. It closed in the early 1960’s and was replaced by a shopping plaza. It was just below the large Montgomery Ward building.

You had to love the slotted floors in the locker rooms…you had to be careful taking off your pants or all your change would fall through the cracks. A few of us would crawl through the lattice work to get under the locker room floors. It was all sand down there and we would sift through the sand looking for change.
OMG, I’m delighted to see this picture of my favorite swimming place growing up. Spent many days there. swimming and baking in the sun .Lots of sunburns …remember well.
